What to do if Chrome can't move the extension into my profile?

If you’ve tried downloading the OSlash browser extension on Chrome and faced this error: Could not move extension directory into profile, here’s a quick fix.

Create a new default folder

  • Press the Windows key + R, type %localappdata%, and click OK

  • Navigate to the Google Chrome User Data directory.
  • Locate the Default directory and rename it to Default-backup.

  • After doing that, start Chrome again.

Once you rename the directory, Google Chrome should recreate it and the Could not move extension directory into profile error will be resolved.

With these steps, you should not face any problem downloading the OSlash browser extension to your Chrome.
